Bergen Community College Welcomes New Alumni Trustee

Victoria Tahhan, a Hackensack resident, as well as, a recent graduate of BCC has been sworn in as the Alumni Trustee for the BCC Board of Trustees.

During the meeting with the Board of Trustees in July 8, 2014, Tahhan replaced former Alumni Trustee, Margarita Valdez, who's one-year appointment expired. Tahhan graduated from BCC with an A.A. in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities. She was also a member of the Student Government as vice president. Tahhan was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and a member of the Judith K. Winn School of Honors. Tahhan was elected by the students to represent them during elections that were held at the end of the Spring 2014 semester.

Tahhan said, "I am beyond honored and excited to be a part of the Board of Trustees. Now, more than ever, it is imperative to bring to the BOT an Alumni's perspective".

Tahhan will be attending Columbia University and is planning a career in Law. Tahhan said, "This summer I will begin an internship at the office of NJ Senator Menendez and I will make sure to lobby for legislation that will continue assisting community college students, which we all know are some of the most tenacious and intelligent students in the county."

Tahhan, as a Board of Trustee member, will be appointed to the education and student affairs committee and will start focusing on voting initiatives. She wishes for a way to prepare BCC's current students for the opportunities that are not only affordable and at BCC but also in their community.
