The English virtual band, Gorillaz, announced the release of a new album for 2016. Let me emphasize, GORILLAZ IS COMING OUT WITH A NEW ALBUM.

Damon Albarn, the group’s frontman and co-creator, revealed in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald on October 17, that he will be “reactivating” the alternative rock and hip hop band.

While Albarn was being interviewed about his new solo album “Everyday Robots,” he sneaked a comment about Gorillaz. The article does not have any direct quotes about the new album, since Albarn is being careful about his words, but the hint is there.

“I would imagine there’s some kind of future,” he said “but at the moment there’s no time for the future – only the present. Who knows? I’m reluctant to say anything, because if I do, it just gets taken out of context and then I’m accused of being a wind-up.”

Gorillaz’s animated characters: 2D, Noodle, Murdoc Niccals and Russel Hobbs have gone five times platinum in the U.S. with their album “Demon Days”. The Gorillaz have also earned an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records, as the Gorillaz - billiardsMost Successful Virtual Band; amongst other accomplishments.

Gorillaz have not released an album since 2011’s “The Fall,” and it was rumored that it was due to a fall-out (Ironic) between Albarn and co-creator, Jamie Hewlett. However, these rumors have been disproven, revealing that they are on great terms.

Hopefully, new Gorillaz music will be released sooner than 2016, but as of right now, let us retreat to “Melancholy Hill”.
