Dear Bergen Students,

Each semester brings about new opportunities, especially for eligible Phi Theta Kappa members! If you received an e-mail or letter from Bergen’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter, you can accept our invitation and become part of this honor society! Receiving over $90 million in scholarships seems like a small advantage as compared to the opportunities of becoming the best version of yourself both academically and professionally. All of our workshops and service events are open to all students, but the scholarships offered by four-year institutions are exclusive for PTK members. Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society of two-year colleges, and nearly every community college across the nation has a Phi Theta Kappa chapter.

Being part of Phi Theta Kappa means that you are dedicated to your educational success. PTK members are among some of the most ambitious and hardworking students, often having multiple jobs or leadership positions on campus in several organizations. As the CEO of Phi Theta Kappa, Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, said, “Phi Theta Kappa is like a gym membership, you get out of it what you put into it.” You can cease your involvement after our Induction Ceremony, but I challenge you to become more involved in Bergen and the community around you, regardless of membership, because it is up to you to create the change you want to see.

This Thursday, October 20, we will have an Information Session from 5-6 PM in room C-211, where we will present an overview of the opportunities and advantages of being part of Phi Theta Kappa. If you have further questions about Phi Theta Kappa, you can visit or come see us at S-347. Utilize all of the resources that Bergen Community College offers to achieve all of your goals, Phi Theta Kappa works to help all students achieve success, we look forward to seeing you at our next event!
